Currently <Obsidian> is taking a break from WoW. If you are here to join the guild, then we don't really know what to tell you 'cept for "tough titties". Obsidian will be back in MoP as a 10m Raiding guild still. Most spots are taken and we only accept people who know how to raid, that means in most cases we won't take you. After a rocky start due mostly to RL issues preventing people from signing on at normal raiding hours, Obsidian is starting to catch up to where we belong. We are currently 4/7 Firelands and counting, and yes there is one image missing below because we were stupid and forgot to grab a screenshot of Baleroc's corpse.
And here's a little something to demonstrate the insane possibilites now that Blizzard has made it so heals can crit
for as much as damaging spells at 200% of their original value.I give to you a very undergeared shaman crit healing for 94,728.

I'm stealing the guild spotlight for just a few moments here. I've spent the past couple weeks creating tons of custom artwork for my own UI. It takes a considerable ammount of time to make something in WoW look decent. The rest of the items I've been creating I'm sad to say I cannot share with you till the entire package is complete. (At least thats the way it seems at the moment.) But for those of you who use WIM, (WoW Instant Messaging, an amazing addon.) I have created my own skin you can use if you so wish.

It's nice to know that some people have the similar responses to raiding strategies as our raiders here in Obsidian.

Tuesday
Obsidian attempts H-Magmaw for the first time. Decent Learning but no kill.Wednesday
Internet issues, Obsidian doesn't raid.Thursday
Obsidian 1 shots H-Halfus, kills H-Magmaw one hour later for the first time on only our second night of attempts, 2 shots H-Maloriak, 1 shots H-Atramedes, and 2 shots H-Chimaeron.Obsidian more than makes up for some weak first 2 days of raiding.

After 2 nights a week, and 2-3 weeks of practice, last night Heroic Maloriak went down smooth in only 3 attempts as if we'd been doing it all along. You guys need to give yourselves a pat on the back, it was fantastic.

That's right, Obsidian takes down it's first Heroic boss 3/16/2011.
We are the first 10 man guild on our server to take him down on heroic mode. And, the next night, 3/17/2011 Obsidian defeats Heroic Chimaeron. That's right, 2 heroic progression bosses in one week. Provided Ascent hasn't defeated any new heroic bosses (Other than the one we know they killed while we were in BWD.) that puts us tied with them in 2nd place for the number of heroic boss kills and only 2 hours behind them in total points earned for those respective kills.
GREAT JOB EVERYONE!! Oh that and we found out apparently it's not a good thing to be to good at the Nefarian fight cause we didn't know he was going to land during the P2 transition if you damaged him below 60%... found out the hard way.

What a fantastic week of raiding for Obsidian. Our very first kill on Nefarian happend Tuesday night after an amazingly fast BWD clear. Wednesday night we followed that up with another amazing Obsidian first, full clear of the Bastion of Twilight with NO raid wipes (Not even on Cho'gall). And Thursday night, the death of Al'akir, final undefeated raid boss, that's two never before defeated raid bosses in one weak for us.
Despite or very late start and rather rocky raid groups at first, Obsidian, undeniably claims 4th place on Arathor-US. Others may pass us now but we will always have been the 4th group to have earned the [Defender of a Shattered World] titles and access to the [Reins of the Dark Phoenix] mounts. Be proud and look forward to starting Heroic raiding!

After rather fast clear of Blackwing Descent's first 4 bosses, and killing Atramedes with 7 deaths during the fight (All 1 shot kills though.) it was nice to move on to Nefarian with an hour and fourty eight minutes remaining in raid time to kick his ass. We may have bumbled our way through some terri-bad attempts before the kill, but 15 minutes before the end of the nights raid time everyone buckled down and pulled out a flawless victory against Nefarian for our fist time. No deaths, no crazy mistakes, just perfect execution.
